What Is The Wayne Foundation And How Is Kevin Smith Involved?

Last week I ran a story about the latest Humble Bundle featuring books by Kevin Smith and his friends. It includes a lot of cool digital comics and part of the proceeds go to a charity. I'm used to seeing either the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund or Hero Initiative as the charity of choice… but this time it is for a group called the Wayne Foundation. I knew of the foundation in reference to the DC comics, but not of an actually Wayne Foundation, so I decided to look them up.

The Wayne Foundation is focused on raising the awareness of CSEC (Commercial Sex Exploitation of Children) DMST (Domestic Minor Sexual Trafficking) occurring within the United States. That's there mission statement, but there vision is a world without child slavery… and the fact that there needs to be a foundation to push for that is a sad indictment of this world. The foundation provides shelter services for young women victimized by exploitation or trafficking. They run a Drop-in-Center in Charlotte County, Florida.

In 2015 released at PSA with Jamie Walton and Kevin Smith, who are the co-founders and on the board of directors for the Wayne Foundation.
