Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is Selling a Red Dot for a Buck

If you want to know how ridiculous in-game shopping can get these days, look no further than Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and their Red Dot. Multiplayer First was the first to notice that the developers at Treyarch threw a new item into their shop that's pretty ridiculous and should be an automatic thing in the game, by selling you a targeting reticle for $1. Yes, you read that correctly, they want to charge you cold-hard cash, not in-game currency, for a red dot to help you aim better. (Currently for the holidays it's priced at $0.50, but you still need to put money on your game account to purchase it.)

From a business perspective, I get what they're going for. From a gamer's perspective, this is just stupid. How many FPS titles are there that have multiple options for color-coded reticles so you can customize your weapon, made available either through unlocking by playing the game or simply free-to-use right out of the gate? Too many to count. And yet Treyarch believes you'll buy one for Black Ops 4. If you want to buy it to help you, that's your call. But we say if you're good at the game, you don't need one to begin with.
