Checking Out the Improvements Made to Astroneer at PAX West

Astroneer has been out for a minute in Early Access since 2016, so when we saw their names on the PAX West list, we wondered what was up. Turns out the devs, who at the moment still don't have a firm release date, were showing off some of the new improvements they made to the game. First off, all those pesky problems with oxygen links are fixes, as you can now connect to anything that's been constructed as having an oxygen link. Next, they fixed the mechanics behind a lot of the vehicles and added a few new ones to the mix. Traveling outside the planet and exploring space is a lot smoother than it used to be as well.

Researching materials and building new items is a lot easier and less random than it previously was. The landscapes have been fixed to appear more like a planet with vegetation that's worth exploring. Plus they have these new crystal areas that we kind of explored but don't know the full purpose of just yet. These improvements will be coming to the game soon, but we'd still like to know when they plan to release the full version of Astroneer on PC and consoles.
