Paris Games Week 2020 Has Been Canceled Due To COVID-19
Another convention in Europe has been canceled as Paris Games Week 2020 was given the axe by organizers this week. The notice was sent out in both French and English on their website, and while they didn't say it outright in the announcement, it's clear the decision was made due to the current COVID-19 outbreak. Here's the statement in full from event organizers.
Dear players,
It is with great emotion that we have made the difficult decision to cancel Paris Games Week, initially scheduled from 23rd to 27th October and which would have marked our 10th anniversary. The current context and the necessary anticipation of both the technical and logistical complexities of an event such as Paris Games Week have led us to cancel this edition. This year should have been special, with a line-up full of new releases, and an anniversary edition which we were thrilled to celebrate with you. We are going to work with all the industry players to enable us all to live our passion. We are already preparing next year's edition and are looking forward to seeing you again.
Our Very Best Regards,
The Paris Games Week Team
This is the second major event to be canceled that would have taken place in the Fall. Many events around the world were canceled over the Summer with those in the Fall hoping the epidemic would calm down or they might find a vaccine by now. Sadly, that's not the case, and man, do we all wish it were at this point. But because the trends in people catching the virus aren't slowing down, events in the Fall are now starting to be ticked off, as Tokyo Game Show 2020 was the first major event to cancel. With Paris Games Week now being canceled, which one will be the next to pull out?
