Captain Marvel Stars Brie Larson and Lashana Lynch on What Their Characters Love About Each Other
There is this idea among some people that women can be friends and Captain Marvel is here to prove you wrong. One of the central relationships in the movie is between Carol and Maria Rambeau. It's not often that we see this kind of friendship become the literal heart of the movie and while on the red carpet the official Marvel Youtube account interviewed actresses Brie Larson and Lashana Lynch. The two of them stood side by side, hands clasped tight, they were asked what Carol loves about Maria and vice-versa. First came Larson who praised the dynamic between the two women.
She's fierce, she's so smart, and capable, and an incredible mother. They have an incredible competitiveness but it's a playful competitiveness 'cause they know that they are equals at the end of the day. And that's what I love.
Next came Lynch who praised not only Carol but Larson for being a fighter that does what's right.
She is truthful to what she believes in, she fights for what she wants, she's crazy talented, Brie and Carol. She's a full on modern day woman. She's just a normal woman, with incredible superpowers both in her heart and her hands.
The best part about this interaction is seeing these two women standing there supporting each other. Larson is clearly getting emotional about being on the carpet and the two of them hold onto each other for dear life. It's always amazing to see women supporting each other but, in this case, it's even lovelier to see them literally leaning on each other for support.
Summary: Carol Danvers becomes one of the universe's most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.
Captain Marvel, directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, will also star Brie Larson, Jude Law, Gemma Chan, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Samuel L. Jackson. The film is set for release on March 8th, 2019.
