Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers is a "Comeback" Not a "Reboot"

When you have a new streaming service and a giant mountain of established IP, the smart thing to do would be to have a bunch of exclusive movies coming to the service. So when Disney announced that they were going to do their own streaming service, a giant pile of streamer-specific films also wasn't surprising. Last December, the Disney Investor Day event brought a giant pile of official confirmations of projects that have been in development hell for years. One of those projects that were announced last December was the Rescue Rangers original movie. We got a logo and a cast announcement of Andy Samberg and John Mulaney. Since then, we haven't heard much about the project, but like other things announced during the Investor Day event, Disney provided us with an update during the Disney+ Day event. Samberg and Mulaney spoke in a video posted to the official account that Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers would be a "comeback," not a "reboot."

We also got a little poster and logo situation for Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers that also calls it a "comeback" and not a "reboot."

Once again, we didn't get a specific release date for this morning, but we did get a window with Spring 2022. So far, we don't know too much about this one, but a live-action Rescue Rangers movie has been in some form of development hell as early as 2014. The Disney live-action movies have been a bit hit or miss when it comes to quality, so it's going to be interesting to see how this one ends up playing out. Chip 'n Dale aren't as beloved to the new generation as the old, so it isn't surprising that Disney is looking to change that. Keep an eye on Bleeding Cool for more Disney+ Day updates.
