An Exclusive First Look At Storyboards For The Upcoming Netflix Cartoon 'Stretch Armstrong And The Flex Fighters'
When we set out to write a story about Netflix's newly announced Stretch Armstrong animated series, the last thing we expected to do was tell you "pip pip, respectfully we told you about this at a previous juncture." But it seems that's exactly what happened.
Back in 2014, Bleeding Cool Rumormonger-in-Chief Rich Johnston published an article headlined "Here Comes… Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters." The story noted a trademark filed by Hasbro for the name, as well as some storyboards by John Forcucci.
But then, it kind of faded away. Until today, when Netflix officially announced a new animated series, Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters. Voice cast members include Scott Menville as Armstrong, Steven Yeun as Wingspan, and Ogie Banks as Omni-Mass, the aforementioned Flex Fighters. Wil Wheaton, Felicia Day, Keith David, Kate Mulgrew, and Walter Koenig are also on the cast.
"Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters is the first Hasbro brand to receive a Netflix original series order. We have been waiting for just the right moment to re-imagine Stretch for a new audience and our friends at Netflix got it right away; they have been a tremendous partner," said Stephen Davis, Chief Content Officer and Executive Vice President, Hasbro Inc., in a press release. "We have hit a superhero sweet spot, and with Netflix's global reach, kids across the world will fall in love with its fun characters and action-packed storyline."
The description for the series, :
Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters follows high school student Jake Armstrong and his two best friends Nathan Park and Ricardo Perez who are accidentally exposed to an experimental chemical that forever changes their seemingly normal lives, transforming them into unlikely heroes who embark on a series of adventures.
According to a report from CBR, plans for the series stretch back 2016… but we know better, don't we? Pip pip.
