Production For Sony's Venom Begins

There's another "forever delayed" project we have to stop making jokes about! Sony recently made an official Twitter account for their Tom Hardy-starring Venom movie, and last night it made its first post:

The official Facebook made the same post.

There was a rumor going around that Sony wanted to start production on Venom last month, but they were delayed for various reasons. The fact that production is starting now, considering the movie is less than a year away from release, more or less makes sense. The thing that doesn't make sense is how few confirmed cast members we have. While places like Variety have been throwing names out there for weeks, Sony hasn't made any comments about any casting news aside from Hardy.

At the moment, Jenny Slate, Michelle Williams, and Riz Ahmed are listed on IMDB, but that doesn't always mean a confirmation. Now that production is starting, we should keep an eye on some social media accounts to see if there's any hint as to whether or not those casting stories were accurate.

Venom, directed by Ruben Fleischer, will be released on October 5th, 2018.
