Rumored Batgirl Casting Shortlist Revealed On Reddit

A Reddit post about the casting for Joss Whedon's Batgirl on the /r/DCEULeaks subreddit has been making the rounds in the entertainment media today, including articles on major outlets like ComicBook.com and ScreenRant. While a rumor sourced from Reddit is normally pretty risky, recent deregulation in the clickbait news industry has made it possible to openly publish these rumors without even pretending to have heard them from an anonymous insider source. And hey, why not? It's not like reckless deregulation has ever led to anything bad happening before.

According to the rumor, a friend of poster /u/DCEUThrowaway89 is working on concept art for the book and claimed to be given specific actress names to work up concept art for. Neither Alicia Silverstone nor Priyanka Chopra are included on the list. For some reason, the concept artist has also been told that Warner Bros wants to have an actress cast for a surprise announcement at San Diego Comic Con. Here's the post:

A friend of mine was recently contacted by WB to work on concept art for the upcoming Batgirl film. WB wants to get an actress signed by SDCC so they can make an surprise announcement on stage during their presentation. I spoke with him a couple days ago and he said that these are the actresses he was asked to develop concept art for.

He won't tell me why but he believes Langford is currently the frontrunner with Fanning, Levy & Qualley behind.

Currently, /u/DCEUThrowaway89 has just one other post, from three days ago, titled "Potential actresses for Batgirl/Barbara Gordon based off of concept art," though the post's contents have been deleted.

If you didn't know after reading the headline that this rumor should be taken with a grain of salt, then we're not going to bother trying to explain it to you now.
