Ryan Reynolds is Trying to Convince Hugh Jackman to Do a Wolverine/Deadpool Team-Up

When the credits rolled on Logan last year, it was pretty clear that everyone involved with that movie was moving on with their lives. We put two major characters to bed — or in the ground — so it didn't seem likely that anyone was returning for another round. But that hasn't stopped Ryan Reynolds from pestering Hugh Jackman into doing a team-up movie with Deadpool and Wolverine. Reynolds recently told Entertainment Weekly that, in the Deadpool timeline, Wolverine is alive and kicking.

"He's alive and well in my timeline," says Reynolds. "There is a Logan running around out there with a little bushy chest and his little sharpy, sharpy claws, and he is alive and well and ready to go. I would love that."

With Logan alive in this timeline a crossover should be possible, right? Well, in this case, "possible" and "probable" are not the same thing. While Reynolds is very much on board, it sounds like Jackman likes the way he went out in Logan and isn't keen to return.

"I think convincing Hugh of that would be a near-impossible feat, but there's no human being I love more than Hugh Jackman in that universe, and equally so as a friend. He's just the best. I already miss him as Logan, so I'm one of those guys that whenever I see him, I'm like, 'Come on, man. Just one more. Come on. We'll do it together. It'll be fun. Come on! On three. Here we go, together. One, two, three, together,' and it's always just me saying it."

There were years when a Deadpool movie that was accurate to the character seemed like an impossible feat, and yet here we are mere weeks away from a sequel. We've seen crazier things happen in the realm of comic book movies, and Reynolds is very determined. It's how we got a Deadpool movie to begin with; maybe he can make the magic happen a second time.

Summary(?): After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry's hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World's Best Lover.

Deadpool 2, directed by David Leitch, stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Josh Brolin, Brianna Hildebrand, and Zazie Beetz. It will be released on May 18th.
