Solo: A Star Wars Story – L3-37 is a "Droid with a Message"
While Solo: A Star Wars Story might be a prequel there are quite a few unknowns when it comes to the cast. We know that Han, Lando, and Chewie will make it to the end but the marketing has done a pretty good job of keeping the details of the new characters hidden. One of of those new characters is a droid played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge and during a recent press conference (via CBR) for the movie she talked about the character.
"L3 is a real inspiration to me. She's a self-made droid. She created herself out of parts of other droids, which sounds kind of frightening when you put it like that [laughs]." Waller-Bridge added, "She's turned herself into a unique creature that's more independent than she originally was. She's got a great attitude. She's pretty upbeat and fun to be around."
Star Wars has always infused a lot of personality into their droids but it sounds like L3 might be on a different level. She is also unique because she is one of the first droid, with a big part, that is voiced by a woman.
"She's fearless, she's uncensored, she's very funny, she's an evolutionary and she has an agenda, which is bigger than the sum of her parts. It's great to play a droid with a message," Waller-Bridge concluded, hinting that there may be a welcomed air of feminist appeal to the character.
Between BB-8 giving a thumbs up to Finn to everything about K-2SO the new Star Wars movies have been on a roll when it comes to the droids. It looks like L3 is going to be another fun addition to the universe.
