SXSW 2020 Canceled Due to Coronavirus Concerns
It looks like another March event has been canceled. Earlier today Reedpop announced that they would be canceling Emerald City Comic-Con and now another March event has canceled due to public health concerns. According to the official twitter account, South by Southwest 2020 has been canceled after at the recommendation of the city of Austin, Texas. The festival has released a full statement.
The Hollywood Reporter has a statement has said that Austin's major has declared a "local disaster in the city" and decided not to have the festival go on. The coronavirus continues to impact events all over the country as the virus spread.
At the moment several events have said that they plan on going on at least for the time being. CinemaCon, the annual gathering of studios and theater owners in Las Vegas, said as recently as yesterday that they have every intention of holding the convention later this month though with increased measures to help prevent an outbreak.
At the moment there haven't been any announcements for events like WonderCon which set to take place in Anaheim next month or what the summer convention season is going to look like. Last we heard E3 2020 was still going to happen but things are developing quickly.
