Last night's episode was called Brotherhood and where going into it the episode didn't seem to have a lot going on, coming out we've learned a lot. If you watched the episode you may have noticed that the amount of action seemed ramped up… that is likely due to the episode being the directorial debut of stunt coordinator James "Bam Bam" Bamford.

The episode focuses on John Diggle discovering that his brother Andy is still alive and part of HIVE… this after discovering last week that his brother was a criminal. If the name Andy Diggle sounds familiar, he's named after the comic writer of the same name who wrote Green Arrow: Year One which had a major influence on the series. This turns into an extraction mission to get Andy out. But the episode also featured the return of Malcolm Merlyn and it got Ray Palmer back into action as both scientist and superhero. He seems to have improved as a fighter while spending time shrunk down.

But the key thing to come out of the episode involved Damien Darhk… not his calling Thea Queen by the name Merida, a reference to a Brave and the idea that Darhk is a fan of Pixar movies… but when he went to use his "death touch" on her, it backfired. Maybe his powers won't work on someone who has been in the Lazarus Pit... time to send Thea and Sara in to finish this off.

Arrow and the Flash will be off next week and then return on December 1st for the two-part crossover that will introduce Vandal Savage and Carter Hall / Hawkman and give Kendra Saunders her wings.

In the video below, executive producer Wendy Mericle talks about the episode.
