Article Summary

  • The Fall Guy: The Extended Cut with 20 minutes of extra footage is now streaming on Peacock.
  • The film premiered at SXSW Film Festival with positive reviews but struggled to maintain hype until its May release.
  • Despite a strong cast, the movie grossed $170 million against its ~$125 million budget, failing to impress.
  • The extended cut hopes to find new audiences as it lands on Peacock, offering fans more content.

The Fall Guy is absolutely one of the bigger swings and misses of the year. The film premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival in March to pretty rave reviews across the board, but the festival was also in March, and the movie was set to be released in early May. The marketing and hype were not able to keep up the momentum until the actual release date came around, and the film ended up making $170 million on a budget of ~$125 million before marketing. It was the wrong foot to start the summer off on and made everyone think movies as we know it were coming to an end. They didn't and studios did manage to more or less turn things around. The Fall Guy is looking to find another audience as it makes its way to streaming. The extended cut of the film is now streaming on Peacock.
