Wish: Crafting A New But Classic Disney Villain With King Magnifico

Disney has released a new behind-the-scenes featurette for Wish spotlighting the villain King Magnifico and his song.

Article Summary

  • Disney hints at a classic villain approach for King Magnifico in the upcoming movie Wish.
  • New behind-the-scenes featurette and song from King Magnifico, the villain in Wish, released on YouTube.
  • Team behind Wish confirms King Magnifico's villainous character deviates from the recent trend.
  • High expectations for King Magnifico’s villain song, “This Is the Thanks I Get?!”, to be a smash hit.

Disney is really starting to push Wish, and they must know they have a winner with the villain because that has been the focus of the last couple of pieces of marketing they have put out. From the beginning, the people involved with Wish have said that King Magnifico is very much like the classic Disney villains that we all grew up with. This isn't going to be a Hans situation, nothing like that, and we can see his villainous side in the material that Disney released on YouTube. They put out a video talking about how Magnifico came to be and crafting his song, but they also released some more of his song, "This Is The Thanks I Get?!" and I stand by that it has the potential to be a bop.
