Rapper Eminem is annoyed that President Donald Trump has not returned fire after Eminem dissed him during a pre-recorded freestyle rap segment before the BET Hip Hop Awards. This is according to an account of his appearance on his own SiriusXM radio channel Shade 45 as transcribed by sandwich-themed Hollywood gossip blog The Wrap. Eminem cut a devastating battle rap against the president that night, but showing an uncharacteristic restraint, Trump has refused to respond.
"I was and still am extremely angry," Eminem said of the diss by omission. "I can't stand that motherf***er. I feel like he's not paying attention to me. I was kind of waiting for him to say something and for some reason, he didn't say anything."
As it stands, Eminem is pretty much the only person of any celebrity that Trump has refused to respond to. Trump has taken on the cast of Saturday Night Live, sports blowhard LaVar Ball, CNN, the New York Times, the Washington Post, Alec Baldwin, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Twilight star Kristen Stewart, and even rapper Snoop Dogg, to name just a few. But on Eminem, the president has remained silent.
Normally, it wouldn't be unusual at all to read that the President of the United States has refused to respond to a rapper's insults on Twitter. But for Donald Trump, the restraint actually feels bizarre. Responding to a foul-mouthed diss from a popular rapper wouldn't be sinking to new depths for Trump. At this point, it would probably elevate the presidency.
Perhaps Trump is simply biding his time, and is working on recording a diss track in response. If that were the case, it would make sense for Trump to wait until Eminem releases his next album, rumored to hit stores in December, in order to take attention away from the album. Trump is friends with rapper Kanye West, who has defended the president on Twitter and at his concerts, and even met with him at Trump Tower. Perhaps the pair will team up to take out their shared rival.
In any other context, we understand this speculation would seem ridiculous, but we ask you: can you really rule out the possibility that's what's going on? We didn't think so.
