"68 Whiskey": Meet Paramount Network Dark Military Comedy's Cast & Characters [VIDEO]
Following up on the success of the Kevin Costner-starrer, "The House that Yellowstone Rebuilt" Paramount Network hopes to have another hit with 68 Whiskey, a new scripted, comedic drama from Brian Grazer and Ron Howard's Imagine Television Studios and CBS Television Studios. Set to premiere on Wednesday, January 15, at 10 p.m. ET/PT, the network is taking viewers behind the scenes to meet the series' interesting cast of characters:
"We couldn't be more excited to share the first look of 68 Whiskey, our new series with Paramount Network. The series is cinematic, adrenaline-fueled and filled with wit and irreverence to cut the tension of the life and death stakes of war for U.S. medics in present day Afghanistan. It's unlike anything we've done before – and anything else on TV."
– Brian Grazer & Ron Howard
Blending intense drama with irreverent humor, 68 Whiskey follows a multicultural band of Army medics stationed in Afghanistan on a base nicknamed "The Orphanage." Together, the medics navigate a dangerous and sometimes absurd world, relying on comradery, various vices, and occasionally, a profound sense of purpose, to carry them through.
Created by series showrunner, writer and executive producer Roberto Benabib (Weeds, The Brink, Ally McBeal), 68 Whiskey stars Sam Keeley, Jeremy Tardy, Gage Golightly, Cristina Rodlo, Beth Riesgraf, Lamont Thompson, Nicholas Coombe, and Derek Theler. Benabib, Grazer, and Howard executive produce alongside Imagine Television President Samie Kim Falvey, Zion Rubin (creator of Israeli television series Charlie Golf One, from which 68 Whiskey has been adapted), Efrat Shmaya Dror (United Studios of Israel), Danna Stern (yes Studios), Francie Calfo, and Michael Lehmann.
Our first impressions? Seems like an interesting modern take on M*A*S*H, left us with a good vibe.
"68 Whiskey delivers on Paramount Network's mission to deliver TV as big as the movies. It's unlike anything else on television right now, truly exploring modern military life in a way we've never seen before. It's a provocative look at the cultural and social tensions faced by the men and women serving their country."
