BBC America to Air Royal Wedding at 4 AM Eastern

Oh you poor, poor Americans. The question is: will you get up early or stay up late? BBC America's live coverage of the royal wedding of HRH Prince Henry of Wales and Ms. Meghan Markle will begin at 4 a.m. ET on Saturday, May 19th. Seriously now.

The network is airing a live and direct simulcast of BBC 1's coverage in the UK — but with added, albeit limited, commercial breaks. Our BBC, as any fule kno, is a communist organisation that eschews the very notion of commercials.

BBC America will show the BBC's main royal wedding program of the marriage itself and the Carriage Procession, with live coverage before and after. In addition to the live coverage, BBC America will air wedding highlights throughout the day and an encore presentation of the wedding at 10 p.m. ET for all you sensible people who, okay, fancy a peek at the frock but don't want to interrupt their precious sleep.

Oh, and if that's not enough, there's plenty more wedding porn for you. Harry & Meghan: A Very Modern Romance premieres Tuesday, May 15th at 10 p.m. The one-hour special investigates the social background that makes this adventurous marriage seem thoroughly in keeping with the modern British Royal Family. It explores the remarkable lives of actress Meghan Markle, a powerful women's rights campaigner, and Prince Harry, looking into their shared interests and love story. Eighty-two years after a romance with a divorced commoner from America led to the abdication of a King, this royal marriage sets and confirms a revolutionized set of British values. An Odyssey Television Production, distributed by Kew Media Group.

While BBC America's week of celebratory programming airing from Tuesday, May 15th – Monday, May 21st, includes: Born To Be KingBritain's Royal WeddingsCharles and Diana – The First Decade, The Coronation of Queen Elizabeth IIDiana, 7 DaysDiana – Legacy of a PrincessKate The Making of a Modern QueenPrince Harry: Frontline Afghanistan, Prince William and Prince Harry – Into the FutureWilliam, Kate and George: A New Royal Family.

I would like to point out that is far, far, far more programming that the actual BBC in Britain will show. Seriously, people, get a grip.
