Chris Jericho Shockingly Banned From WWE, Says Chris Jericho
In a stunning revelation that sent shockwaves throughout the internet wrestling community this weekend, former WWE Superstar Chris Jericho announced on the Jim Norton and Sam Roberts SiriusXM radio show that he's about as welcome in WWE these days as Norton and Roberts' former broadcast partners (and former XFL kickoff hosts) are welcome at SiriusXM. Apparently, the only crime Jericho has committed here was signing an exclusive deal with a rival wrestling organization. Why that should prevent WWE promoting Jericho on its own broadcasts is unknown, but however illogical, it's apparently the case.
UK tabloid The Sun transcribed a bunch of Jericho's quotes from the radio show:
I've talked with [Vince McMahon] a couple of times. But I'm kind of public enemy number one there now. I've been kind of removed from the annals of history. I asked the other day if I could have a couple of their guys on my podcast to promote Mania and I was told, 'No, it's not appropriate because you're in AEW.' I am banned from WWE."
I think my stuff is still on [the WWE Network]. I haven't been disgraced. But as far as I know, they had to take some videos down from UpUpDownDown of me playing. Took that off. They edited some stuff from The Edge & Christian Show that had my name on it.
If true, this would be an unprecedented move for WWE to not actively promote a wrestler signed exclusively with one of their competitors. WWE even once aired taped footage featuring Ravishing Rick Rude on the same night he had left the company and shown up on rival WCW's Nitro broadcast. If they can show that right in the middle of the Monday Night Wars, surely WWE could promote Jericho's video game Youtube show appearances, but it seems that the company is holding grudges against the multi-time world champion, just because he is trying to lend legitimacy to what could end up becoming WWE's chief rival in the United States.
Sad. And Senseless. It looks like Jericho has just made WWE's list.
