Dolph Ziggler to Wrestle Goldberg, Not Shawn Michaels, at WWE SummerSlam
Fans watching Dolph Ziggler's recent segments on WWE programming may have been thinking it was all building to a match between Ziggler and WWE Hall-of-Famer Shawn Michaels, but it looks like it's Hall-of-Famer Bill Goldberg that will face the Show Stealer at SummerSlam later this month. According to Dave Meltzer's Wrestling Observer, and all of the wrestling news sites whose daily clickbait mostly comes from repeating what he says in his newsletter and podcasts, Ziggler and Goldberg is set for SummerSlam.
Goldberg was openly disappointed in his most recent match against the similarly geriatric Undertaker in Saudi Arabia, so it's no surprise he would be interested in another chance against a more capable opponent. However, Michaels also had a poor return at a Saudi blood money show recently, and his legacy could have also benefited from a match with somebody who can still wrestle. And with HBK and Ziggler getting up in each other's faces on a recent episode of Miz TV, with Michaels accusing Ziggler of ripping him off and Ziggler superkicking him in the face, along with WWE's announcers taking to calling Ziggler's superkick the Sweet Chin Music, it seemed logical that WWE would head in that direction.
Alas, at least according to the Observer, Goldberg vs. Ziggler is what we're going to get, with Ziggler undoubtedly flopping wildly all over the ring to kill time as Goldberg performs his two or three moves. At least it now makes sense why Ziggler kept throwing Goldberg's name in alongside his derision of Michaels and other legends who continue to return to the ring past their prime.
If nothing else, the upcoming match should at least keep Goldberg regular, as the wrestler has admitted to pooping twenty times per day while training for wrestling matches.
"I am nothing but a machine now," Goldberg said back in 2017. "I get up in the morning. I eat. I train. I eat. I go to the bathroom about 20 times intermittently throughout the day because I'm shoving 15 to 20,000 calories in my body and it doesn't know what's going on. At 50 years old, it has no idea."
So it looks like, in more ways than one, this match may be a @#$%show. We'll keep you posted on this match, as well as Goldberg's pooping habits, in future updates.
