Gargoyles: Greg Weisman Shares Details on 30th Anniversary Celebration
Greg Weisman shared some early info on the 30th anniversary celebration being planned for Gargoyles next July during CONvergence 2024.
It began on October 24, 1994, with "Awakening, Part 1" (directed by Saburo Hashimoto & Kazuo Terada, with story by Eric Luke & Michael Reaves and teleplay from Michael Reaves) – and 29 years later to the date, Disney's Gargoyles is proving to be as popular & influential as ever before. Earlier this month, we learned that Gary Dauberman ("The Nun" franchise), James Wan's Atomic Monster, and Disney+ were set to team up for a live-action series for the streaming service. On the comics side of things, the tenth issue of writer Greg Weisman and artist George Kambadais's Dynamite Comics series hits this week. And look no further than any social media of your choosing, and you'll see just how popular the original series continues to be as new generations of animation fans learn firsthand what all of the fuss has been about. With today marking that 29th anniversary, one couldn't help but wonder if anything was on tap for next year – that nicely rounded 30th anniversary. Thankfully, Weisman was kind enough to offer some early intel on a very special event that he will be taking part in next summer…
"Today is the 29th Anniversary of the Television Premiere of #Gargoyles! Hope you'll join us next July for the 30th Anniversary Celebration at [CONvergence 2024: Everyone's Invited]. Guests will include myself, voice of Lexington [Thom Adcox-Hernandez], artist [Christopher Jones] & more!!" Weisman wrote in a tweet/x on Tuesday night. Running from July 4-th-7th, 2024, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the four-day CONvergence 2024: Everyone's Invited is a major pop culture convention presence in the Midwest that welcomes fans from across the geek landscape. And it looks like Gargoyles fans looking to make the pilgrimage still have some time to plan ahead of next July – but with Weisman, voice actor Thom Adcox-Hernandez (Lexington), artist Christopher Jones already set, and others expected to join the panel for the big anniversary celebration, expect this session to get packed.
