"GLOW": Geena Davis is Going "All In" (Sorry, AEW) on Season 3 [VIDEO]
August look to a very busy and professionally diverse month for Geena Davis (Thelma & Louise, The Long Kiss Goodnight). The Academy Award winner is already set to voice Huntara in Netflix's She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, and now she's set to join Alison Brie and Marc Maron in a recurring guest star role for GLOW Season 3. Set to premiere its 10-episode third season on August 9, the upcoming season of GLOW introduces us to Davis' Sandy Devereaux St. Clair, former Las Vegas showgirl and now entertainment director of the Fan-Tan Hotel and Casino.
Created by showrunners/executive producers Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, GLOW focuses on the fictionalized world of real 1980's syndicated women's professional wrestling via the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (GLOW).
Here's a look at the Netflix teaser announcing Davis' casting:
GLOW tells the fictional story of Ruth Wilder (Alison Brie), an out-of-work, struggling actress in 1980's Los Angeles who finds one last chance for stardom when she's thrust into the glitter and spandex world of women's wrestling.
In addition to working with 12 Hollywood misfits, Ruth also has to compete with Debbie Eagan (Betty Gilpin), a former soap actress who left the business to have a baby, only to be sucked back into work when her picture-perfect life is not what it seems. And at the wheel is Sam Sylvia (Marc Maron), a washed-up B-movie director who now must lead this group of women on the journey to wrestling stardom.
Season 3 follows the ladies of GLOW as headliners at the Fan-Tan in Vegas. The women quickly realize Sin City is much more grind than glitter.
Ever the team cheerleader, Ruth's passion for the show begins to take a backseat to her growingly complicated personal life. Debbie is making headway as a producer, but continues to be consumed with guilt over the distance between her and her son. As their residency wears on, the lines blur between performance and reality, and the cast find themselves struggling with their own identities in and outside of the ring.
Netflix's GLOW stars Brie, Maron, Betty Gilpin, Sydelle Noel, Britney Young, Gayle Rankin, Sunita Mani, Rebekka Johnson, Kimmy Gatewood, Britt Baron, Kate Nash, Ellen Wong, Jackie Tohn, Marianna Palka, and Kia Stevens. Flahive and Mensch executive produce alongside Tara Hermann and Jenji Kohan.
