Max Adler Ingratiates Himself with the Flash Writer's Room

Early this week we covered a story about former Glee actor Max Adler joining the cast of The Flash as an unnamed arsonist with a love for heavy metal. The report said Adler will play Jaco Birch, an obsessive music fan who loves classic heavy metal. He's a roadie for some of the newer, contemporary metal bands — and he likes to set things on fire. Now, the name doesn't directly tie into any DC Comics character, but some outlets are reporting that he will be playing Pyro, a Power Girl villain created in 1988 by Paul Kupperberg and Rick Hoberg. I've seen no verification of this, but the character has no real name and may have only appeared in Power Girl #2, so it may be him. *** Updated to correctly identify the actor as Max Adler. Got an on-line friend named Matt Adler and that stuck in my head. ***

Adler has wisely decided to ingratiate himself to the most important people involved with the series, the writers. For a well liked actor, maybe they'll give him a slightly bigger story, a return visit or stave off a planned death. It's at least worth a shot. If Adler is the big bad for Season 5, we'll know it worked. As you can see in the photo above, Adler has sent Red Hots, Hot Tamales, Flamin' Hot Cheetos and a bottle of Fireball. Enough of the Fireball and we may see him as the new boyfriend for Killer Frost… but that never ends well.

The Flash airs Tuesdays at 9 PM on the CW.
