Pete Davidson Comedy Special Turbo Fonzarelli Hits Netflix in January
Pete Davidson (Saturday Night Live, Bupkis) return to Netflix with the new comedy special "Turbo Fonzarelli," set to hit on January 9, 2024.
It looks like Saturday Night Live alum & Peacock's Bupkis star Pete Davidson (upcoming: The Home) has some things to get off his chest to start off the new year right – and Netflix is going to give him the stage & mic to do it. Earlier today, we learned that Davidson will be launching his second stand-up special for the streaming service – with Turbo Fonzarelli set to hit Netflix on January 9, 2024. Directed by Jason Orley and produced by Above Average, the hour-long special is executive-produced by Davidson & Alex Panagos for King For A Night and Above Average EPs Ally Engelberg & Marc Lieberman. The special is a follow-up to Davidson's 2020 special, Alive From New York – with the actor/comedian also backing the comedy showcase Pete Davidson: The Best Friends, featuring familiar names from comedy & music like Neko White, Dave Sirus, Jordan Rock, Carly Aquilino, Joey Gay, Giulio Gallarotti, Big Wet, and Machine Gun Kelly. While we await an official trailer or preview, here's a look at the official key art poster for Turbo Fonzarelli (followed by a look back at Davidson's recent SNL return).
Davidson & musical guest Ice Spice kicked off the current 49th season of SNL in a very big way – and a large part of that had to do with one of the best filmed sketches so far – Davidson's Barbie spoof/take, "I'm Just Pete." Davidson has never backed away from discussing his personal life – warts and all – in interviews, during his stand-up, and in SNL sketches. But by using Barbie as the springboard, Davidson left us with an impressive piece of self-analysis that had us rollercoastering with feelings. And the best part? Even if you're not willing to buy into the introspective aspects, "I'm Just Pete" works on a purely satirical level, too. Here's a look at the original sketch, followed by the cast & creative team discussing how it all came together:
