"Power" Kicks off Final Season with Madison Square Garden Blowout
Power is coming to an end, with an expanded 15-episode final season and a massive, star studded kickoff event at Madison Square Garden in New York on August 20th.
The Madison Squre Garden show will be the first chance fans of Power can see the season six premier, and catch live appearances from Curtis Jackson (AKA 50 Cent), Power producer/creator Courtney Kemp, and core cast members Omari Hardwick, Lela Loren, Naturi Naughton, Joseph Sikora, Micheal Rainey Jr., Ferrara, Shane Johnston, Larenz Tate, and a whole lot more expected to attend.
RSVP's for the event go live on July 9th, and members of the general public are invited to apply.
Creator and showrunner Courtney Kemp took to Instagram to thank her crew:
Power started its run on Starz in 2014, and chronicles the life of James St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick), who deals drugs under the nickname "Ghost". St. Patrick wants to get out of crime and do something legitimate, and sets out to become a nightclub owner.
Power has been an ensemble show from the beginning, with James' family featured prominently. His marrige to Tasha (Naturi Naughton) has been falling apart, and he's trying to be a good dad to his son, Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.).
James finds himself trying to balance the lucrative life that dealing drugs can bring him against the yearning for a legitimate gig, made all the harder by butting heads with his rival, Kanan (50 Cent).
The series debuted to audience acclaim, and quickly became one of the highest rated shows in the Starz history. Critics were pretty mixed on the first season of Power, but reaction to the second season forward has been pretty favorable.
The Madison Square Garden debut of Power's sixth season will take place on August 20th, while the regular season will kick off on Starz on August 25th.
