Former WWE Superstar Ashley Massaro Has Passed Away at Age 39
Winner of the 2005 World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Diva Search, WWE superstar, actor, and model Ashley Massaro has passed away on May 16th in Long Island, New York at the age of 39 (just 10 days before her 40th birthday). TMZ first reported the news.
Trained by Dave "Fit" Finlay, Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, and Trish Stratus, Massaro entered feuds with Candace Michelle, Torrie Wilson, and Mickie James on Raw. She got involved in Stratus' feud with James before moving to SmackDown in June 2006.
Massaro entered feuds with Kristal Marshall, Victoria, and Jillian Hall before joining up and managing Paul London and Brian Kendrick as their valet.
In 2007, Massaro posed for Playboy while in her ongoing rivalry with Hall. Her biggest opportunity came when she was placed on a program with WWE Women's Champion, Melina, which she played off her jealously of Massaro's Playboy cover. In the summer 2007, Massaro was "suspended" for accidentally spilling coffee on "Mr. McMahon" on SmackDown, which was to cover her participation on the CBS reality show, Survivor: China. She also had a guest appearance on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and filmed an episode of Smallville with fellow WWE superstar Glenn "Kane" Jacobs in 2007.
Massaro returned to Raw in early 2008 where she would be involved in stories with Maria, Santino Marella, Hall, and James before her departure from WWE in April of that year. She attempted a comeback in September 2017 wrestling for Zero1 Professional Wrestling with her former rival Hall.
AEW Wrestling also posted about her passing, as well as fellow wrestlers.
