Amazon Releases Super Bowl Ad for Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan
In August, Amazon Prime will debut a new series based on Tom Clancy's legendary character Jack Ryan. This will be the first time Ryan, now played by John Krasinski, will be in a television series. Previously he has been the focus of multiple films and portrayed by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, and Chris Pine. To promote the new series, Amazon has booked a commercial during the Super Bowl.
The new series will have an original storyline, a reinvention of the character with a modern sensibility. It will focus on Ryan as an up-and-coming CIA analyst thrown into a dangerous field assignment for the first time. He uncovers a pattern in terrorist communication that launches him into the center of a dangerous gambit with a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale. The eight-episode dramatic series also stars Wendell Pierce and Abbie Cornish.
The 60-second ad will be featured during the Super Bowl LII telecast on Sunday, February 4th, and is scheduled to air immediately following the Super Bowl halftime show. The ad is centered on the renowned Tom Clancy hero and set to audio from historic political figures, including John F. Kennedy, Bill Clinton, Donald J. Trump, George W. Bush, Barack Obama and Ronald Reagan, with the iconic Bob Dylan song "All Along the Watchtower" performed by Devlin featuring Ed Sheeran.
