Theo Rossi 'Shades' To Return For 'Luke Cage' Season Two

Lujke CageWhile Luke Cage kind of fell apart in the second half of the season one of the things that was consistent was Theo Rossi's Shades Alvarez. While he spent a good portion of the series lurking in the background you couldn't shake the feeling that he knew he was the smartest person in the room. His relationship with Mariah was fascinating and it was great to watch him play both sides. Luke Cage was renewed for a second season but aside from that announcement we haven't had much information about who is returning. Rossi did an interview with Parade and while they did talk about Sons of Anarchy and his upcoming role in the movie Lowriders out tomorrow they also asked him about Luke Cage and what he plans on doing next.

What can we expect next from you?

Luke Cage is going down, [we're in] season two. We're pretty excited, it'll be nice to get back into the swing.

Not only does that confirm that Rossi will be back for the second it makes it sound like the show might start shooting sooner than we thought. The Punisher just wrapped and will be out by the end of the year. Jessica Jones season two has started production and, while this is a guess, is going to be released sometime in the spring of 2018. Daredevil star Charlie Cox has said he will start filming his third season by the end of the year. That likely means that Luke Cage season two will follow after that.

Should Marvel continue with two series a year that would likely put Jessica Jones season two in spring 2018, Daredevil season three in the fall of 2018, and Luke Cage season two in the spring of 2019. However, Rossi's comments makes it sound like production is a lot closer which could mean that they are moving to three series a year pushing Daredevil to summer 2018 and Luke Cage season two to winter 2018.

We don't really know for sure, we don't even have a release date for The Punisher, but Rossi was a highlight of Luke Cage and it's great that he'll be back.
