Young Sheldon: Georgie/Mandy Spinoff Reportedly In Development at CBS
Reports are that CBS is close to a direct-to-series order for a Young Sheldon spinoff series that would focus on Georgie and Mandy.
Even the cast of The Big Bang Theory wasn't sure what Chuck Lorre had in mind when reports hit back in April 2023 that another series set within the long-running sitcom's universe was in development. Well, it looks like they – and the rest of us – might be one step closer to getting that answer. As CBS's Young Sheldon prepares for its final season, reports are that Steve Holland, Steven Molaro, and Lorre are nearing a deal with CBS for a direct-to-series order for a spinoff from the prequel that would focus on Georgie and Mandy, portrayed by Montana Jordan and Emily Osment, respectively – with both actors reportedly in talks to resume their roles for the new series. Though CBS and Warner Bros. TV haven't commented, Holland, Molaro & Lorre are expected to executive produce and pen the series opener.
Adding to the interest factor in this series is what we already know about Georgie (George Marshall "Georgie" Cooper Jr.) from The Big Bang Theory. We know that while Georgie and Mandy (Amanda "Mandy" McAllister) have a child together, the parents aren't together – Georgie has had two ex-wives by that point and owned a successful chain, Dr. Tire. That means that sometime between their Young Sheldon Season 6 engagement and TBBT, things do not go too well for the couple. Along with keeping the franchise profitably alive & well while expanding its overall canon, the potential series would also ensure that Lorre, Warner Bros. TV & CBS's long-running relationship would continue (with Bob Hearts Abishola joining Young Sheldon by also ending its run) – a relationship that has proven quite successful over the year for all parties involved – and the viewers. But for now, the reports remain unconfirmed rumblings – stay tuned!
