DC Continues To Support The Vertigo Relaunch
This month sees DC Vertigo launch four new comics, Fairest, Saucer Country, The Deadwardians and Dominique Laveau:
Voodoo Child, in something that no one else but me is calling the Vertigo Relaunch.
And while it may not be as glamourous and newsworthy as the New 52, DC are still doing what they can to back the new Jtitles. Traditionally, DC Vertigo titles have a burst of sales when a book is launched that then dwindle to a relatively unsustainable state as interested customers move onto more satisfying trade paperback collections. But without those monthly comics sales, the titles can't be sustained.
So, now extended into its third month, May, DC Comics are giving retailers extra discount when ordering the titles increasing the profits that retailers make on the books by around 30 to 40%. This gives retailers added incentives to order and hand sell the monthly books to customers over and above other titles on the shelf…
