What do you get when you mix The Lizard with The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?

That's basically the question asked by the inevitable videogame tie-in to this year's hotly-anticipated Spidey reboot.

The game follows on from the action of the movie, in which it seems reasonable to assume that the threat of The Lizard will be in some way negated: Dr Connors will either die (most likely) be jailed (always possible) or alter his formula so that he turns into a lovable rainbow-maned unicorn (my favourite option).

So in Activision's spinoff, which is set immediately after the action of The Amazing Spider-man, Spidey squares off against Doctor Connors's half-forgotten test subject – The Iguana.

First seen in Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man #32 in 1979, the Iguana is a more animalistic, less conflicted counterpart to The Lizard, with bonus mental powers.

In the game, Iguana uses his scream in order to influence or mind control The Rhino and other unfortunates affected by a mysterious cross-species virus.

Now, we've all learned by now to be cautious about movie tie-in games but this does look pretty nice. We've got a couple of renders of the scaly Oscorp escapee to show you, as well as some other frankly rather cool images from the game.

There's no confirmed release date for the game yet, but it's a reasonable guess that it will be a week or so before the movie.
