Watch A Twitch Streamer Beat The 'Mario 64' World Record
A bit of a bittersweet victory that's worth watching if you got two hours. A Twitch streamer by the name of Cheese broke the Super Mario 64 speedrun challenge of completing the game with all 120 stars. That's already a pain in the ass thing to do if you're not speedrunning the game, so 14-year-old me is giving this guy a crippled thumbs up from the past. Honestly, it's worth checking out just to see the insanity of how quickly he pulls it off, which we've loaded up for you below. He pulls the record off in 1:40:05, smashing the old record of 1:40:31. The reason this is bittersweet is because while the speedrunning community has been desperately trying to pull this off in under 1:40, no one has been able to do it yet. Cheese was aiming to do this around 1:39, and would have been able to do it, if not for a Twitch bits spammer who donated the in-system currency just to spam the words "Hi YouTube" and "Dicks" over and over, forcing him to pause and turn it off.
A lesson for all the would-be streamers out there: All your add-ons are cute… until you're trying to actually accomplish something. Still, this is an amazing run and worth your time to check out.
