Retailers Ordered 300,000 Return Of Wolverine #1 in September – And Marvel Overshipped Some Titles Again

We got the word that Batman: Damned #1 sold 110,000 copies – and that's your lot. No second printings. But from that data point, we can extrapolate a little. Now these Top 500 stats, with both Quantity and Dollar ranks separated, only reflects North American sales, whereas that DC stat was for all sales in September. UK sales are estimated to be between 10% and 15% of US sales. So there's that. But if, for arguments sake, that UK and US decisions by retailers were vaguely similar, that would suggest that Return of Wolverine #1 had 300,000 orders from comics stores, Heroes In Crisis #1 had 162,000 and Doomsday Clock #7 had 150,000. And Batman #55? 121,000, compared to Batman #54's 109,000 – that's the difference a shot Nightwing makes.

And when it comes to overshipping, we can see a couple of examples in the charts – what used to be Marvel Comics common practice, is now a rare thing.

X-Men Red #8 is placed at 42nd in terms of its delivered and 41st in revenue raised at $3.99, Iceman #1 was 3rd in orders received and 118th in revenue delivered. This suggests that the launch issue was double shipped.
