Everything You Knew About Dark Phoenix Saga was… Hey, Stay Away From Our X-Men, Marvel!
Marvel continues to release teasers threatening to rewrite the history of the Marvel Universe. So far, we've seen one threatening to rewrite how the Fantastic Four got their powers, one threatening to rewrite the Spider-Man No More story, one threatening to rewrite The Avengers finding Captain America in the ice, and one threatening to rewrite the parentage of Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch by revealing that Magneto @#$%ed a cow. Okay, we may have made that last one up… or did we?
In any case, threatening to mess with foundational stories of Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, and the Avengers is one thing, but when Marvel starts threatening to rewrite classic X-Men stories like the Dark Phoenix Saga, that's where we have to draw the line. Even if the story was already retconned once before when it was revealed that the Jean Grey who died on the moon was actually a construct of the Phoenix Force based on her, while the real Jean was recovering in a cocoon at the bottom of the river, healing from the spaceship crash, before being found by the Fantastic Four to launch an X-Factor series. But even so, that's enough retcons! No more!
Except, that's what we're getting. And probably a lot more to come.
