Walmart's Problems With DC Comics That You Wouldn't Get in a Comic Shop

Hit my local Wal-Mart today to pick up the new DC books.  The new comic holder is nice. Plenty of copies of Wonder Woman, Titans and Swamp Thing. Only 4 copies of Flash and 3 copies each of Superman & Batman. Maybe over-compensating on the earlier issues (with up to 8 copies of each title) hurt new orders of these two "older" books? There was an enormous backlog of unsold books after 5 months.

Anyways, the Superman and Batman shipments were ruined by a Super Squishy Blob Ball hanging precariously over the books.  I guess one of them leaked (or a kid squeezed it to death) and its innards drizzled all over the two titles.  Superman got the worse of the mess.  Slime damaged pages.  The Bat books got to sit in a soggy, blobby puddle.

I'm used to digging past the fallen Pokemon keychains, cotton candy and other items that use to hang over the books but this was a new low.

You know, in the UK, most comics in newsagents come with the equivalent of squishy blob balls stuck to the front, comics as a delivery system for junk rather than the be-all-and-end-all, which is why the likes of 2000AD, Judge Dredd Megazine, Phoenix and Viz Comic are most welcome.
