Sherlock Holmes 3 Delayed a Year from December 2020 to December 2021
The third Sherlock Holmes movie, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, has been in the works since the last one hit theaters in 2011. The two Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmes movies are interesting little pieces of cinema. They are far from high art and aren't exactly critical darlings but they both made over $500 million at the worldwide box office. Since the first two movies both Downey and Law have gone on to become megastars and bringing them back for a third movie probably seems like a sure thing to Warner Bros.
It sounds like we're going to have to wait a little longer for that third installment. According to The Hollywood Reporter Sherlock Holmes 3 has been delayed a full year pushing back the release date from December 25, 2020 to December 22, 2021. That will make it ten years since the previous entry in the series which was titled Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.
At the moment there is no official director listed though Guy Ritchie is rumored to be returning with Chris Brancato writing the script. There wasn't a reason given for the delay but considering the two stars, we could probably guess it was scheduling conflicts.
