'John Wick' Director Chad Stahelski Says Wachowskis Working on New 'The Matrix'

The announcement of the new film comes as no surprise considering Reeves' resurgence with the success of the John Wick franchise. Before shooting can begin, he also has to wrap up his commitments with beloved franchise in Bill & Ted Face the Music with costar Alex Winter. Moss is coming off her intense turn as power attorney Jeri Hogarth for the Netflix Marvel television universe.

Joining Wachowski to write are Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell. Grant Hill will co-produce. Production is scheduled to begin in early 2020. There are no plot details released about the film nor any information regarding who Abdul-Mateen will play.

Abdul-Mateen II's appeared in many high profile roles. He played the main villain Manta in Aquaman (2018), Russel Thomas in Us (2019), and as Karl in the Black Mirror season five episode "Striking Vipers". You can soon catch him as Cal Abar in the HBO series Watchmen. He'll be in the upcoming films: the Candyman remake, All Day and a Night, and The Trial of the Chicago 7.
