Booze Geek: Lucifer
Beer: Lucifer
Brewer: Het Anker Brewery
This week, the Booze Geek is reviewing Lucifer. No, not the devil himself, I'm sure he is doing a fine a job. Lucifer is a special blonde ale from the Het Anker Brewery. When poured, it produces a very impressive head and has a nice, gold color. The beer has a wicked carbonation, as if it was bubbling up from hell itself.
Lucifer does not offer a potent smell. In fact, its smell is very light, with just a slight hint of fruitiness to it. When drank, the beer produces a bitterness at first, but is not overpowering. The bitterness fades and turns into a pleasant taste, with hints of fruit in it. In fact, with time, Lucifer turns into quite a mellow beer as your palate becomes accustomed to it, with a nice aftertaste between sips. However, the beer is a tad over carbonated and, while it fades, can certainly be felt while drinking it.
Despite that, Lucifer is still a very nice beer. It is definitely worth looking if you want a higher alcohol content beer (it is 8%) that isn't overpowering or if you want to try something that isn't an IPA. I recommend it.
What to drink this to:
Pop in your favorite Satan worship movie or any other film involving the devil. I'm thinking titles along the lines Rosemary's Baby, The Omen or one of my favorites, The Black Cat. Just kick off your shoes, pour a glass of Lucifer and start running with the devil.
Dylan Gonzalez happens to love beer and comic books and luckily found a place to write about the former because he has no idea how to actually make money in the real world. He lives in a cave in New Jersey.
