Living and working in South Africa, Phillips is a three-time winner of the M.E.R Prize for Youth Fiction, was shortlisted for the prestigious Commonwealth Writer's Short Story Prize and was named one of the Mail & Guardian's 200 Young South Africans.

Astrid Blumer is an illustrator, also from Cape Town.
