Battle Beast Blind Bags Revealed Early On WhatNot And eBay (Spoilers)
The inside of Battle Beast Blind Bags have been revealed early on WhatNot and are now all over eBay (Spoilers)
Bleeding Cool previously reported that next week's Battle Beast #1 from Skybound/Image Comics, which launches the new Invincible storyline by writer Robert Kirkman and Ryan Ottley, had orders for nearly 400,000 copies. But also that sales were helped by the first issue's blind bag promotion. In which the first issue ships in a sealed bag, for a) more money b) a mystery number of randomly intermixed covers including the super rare 1:1000 variant and c) apparently some additional surprises that may not be Battle Beast variants at all, but something else surprising inside.
Well, that surprise has been blown and blown big. First, one retailer opened blind bags on WhatNot, which might have been able to restrain to one stream, but now other retailers have been unbagging the books and listing them on eBay. Image Comics reps asked me to pull back when it was just WhatNot, but recognise that eBay is another world. But expect The Canadian Comic Bin, Quinn's Comics, Comic Cents QC, and more to get in trouble for this…
Okay, here we go. Here are three additional comic books that can be found in Battle Beast #1 Blind Bag editions, and what you get on the spin of a dice.
We get a copy of the original Invincible #19 from 2004 that first introduced Battle Beast, but as a foil cover edition.
Then there is a foil-cover edition of Marvel Team-Up #14, also from 2004 and originally printed by Marvel Comics. This issue saw Invincible team up with Marvel in a cross-company crossover when Robert Kirkman was also writing the Marvel Team-Up series. This issue had to use a Spider-Man analogue when it was adapted for Prime Video.
And finally, a foil edition of the second issue of Battle Beast in a foil cover edition, published one month in advance. Which one will you get? Or will there be anything else out there? That's all still to be confirmed…. but they all have bids for over $100.
