Bleeding Cool Bestseller List – 3rd August 2014 – The Darkseid War Begins

Image-154This is the Top Ten Bleeding Cool Bestseller List, as compiled by a number of comic stores from their sales on Wednesday and Thursday. It measures what are known as the Wednesday Warriors, those who can't wait to the weekend to get this week's comics. We salute you, and the keenness you bring to your passion.

Justice League bringing back Doom Patrol and launching the Darkseid War pushed this book to the top, knocking aside the usual winner Batman Eternal. But a new issue of Sandman and the rising star of Guardians Of The Galaxy also topped the chart wit the launch of Low and the second issue of Outcast doing well as well, Low beating out Remender's other book this week, Uncanny X-Men.

  1. Justice League #32
  2. Batman Eternal #17
  3. Sandman Overture #3
  4. Guardians Of The Galaxy #17
  5. Low #1
  6. Outcast #2
  7. Uncanny X-Men #24
  8. Avengers #33
  9. Harley Quinn #8
  10. Uncanny Avengers #22

Thanks to the following retailers,

And this is what they had to say,

Low did phenomenally well for a first-issue launch, charting ahead of all other Image books for us this week. Dave McKean's Sandman cover performed much stronger this issue than it did for the first two–it almost tied the Williams cover. The Guardians movie pushed GotG into a strong third-place position, which represents a sales increase of about 20% over typical GotG sales.

Strong interest in back issues of Hellblazer recently, along with a number of customers looking for out-of-print Omnibus volumes from Marvel and DC.

It's a big week for Image and Rick Remender. Low gets off to great start!

Low #1 may have made the list had 2/3rd of my order not been damaged. Solid solid week of books. Nice to see both Sandman and Hawkeye, both AWOL since March.
Awesome week in comics! This week saw the sad finale of two awesome indies, Fatale & The Wake. But at the same time we had the return of Black Science AND the new Low #1 from Remender to take their place. All sold awesome! Justice League dominated the week at our shop, but that was the only DC book in our top ten. Marvel had some heavy hitters out this week. Bravo to them for getting the Guardians of the Galaxy out in the same week as the movie. That's always a solid move.

Guardians of the Galaxy back issues and trades continue to sell really well. Even the single issues from the previous series. Our #1 of the DnA series sold off the wall at $100 in no time. Everyone wants more GOTG!

No real surprises this week, Out cast was the clear winner almost doubling the sales of the #2 book-Low #1. Strong numbers all around on all the other titles including the Avengers titles that seemed to have a small pick up in first week sales.

Thor back-issues were the best movers, which is surprising considering the Guardians of the Galaxy comes out this week. Probably the calm before the storm.

With the Guardians of the Galaxy due out this week the regular series enjoyed a spike in readership. Solid week. No surprises this week.

Guardians of the Galaxy and Flash back issues are enjoying new people hunting various issues down. Deadpool got some back issue love thanks to a certain leaked test screening on the internet. Even the photo of Wonder Woman for the upcoming Batman Superman movie has made people take notice of her series.

Low #1 and Bodies #1 made our top ten. Did not expect that. The rest of the top ten is what I did expect. Marvel's 100th Anniversary issues have all done better than expected. Good sales Wednesday in general.
