Charlie Hebdo Staff Ask For A Little Redistribution Of Ownership

o-CHARLIE-HEBDO-570Charlie Hebdo is a rather left learning satirical comics magazine. As you may have gathered. And as a result of tragedy, it now has a far greater impact in the French and international media than it ever has, with sales of tens of thousands, now translated into hundreds of thousands or millions.

And while much has been made of the money raised for injured and the families of the dead, some of those who escaped the gunmen's bullet are wondering if they could be due a share of the increased magazine sales.

Eleven employees have demanded that they receive an equal share in Charlie Hebdo in the light of its new found success. An editorial meeting will be held to discuss the issue, with lawyers recognising the desire of staff to have greater involvement, but not including ownership in that. The group of staff including  Patrick Pelloux and Luz have hired two lawyers to represent their case.
Currently, Charlie Hebdo is currently split in ownership between the family of its late editor Charb, the hospitalised designer Riss, now the new director of the magazine, and 20% by co-manager of the magazine, Eric Portheault.
Current manager of the magazine, Laurent Sourisseau despaired at the problems, comparing it to family fights at a funeral over the deceased's jewelry…
