Classic Red Sonja Focus Of Digital Sale As New Version Is Released
Today we see the release of Dynamite's newest take on Red Sonja and a new issue #1 by Marguerite Bennett and Aneke. I'm going to review the issue in the morning, but the most noticeable difference is illustrated here by Jay Anacleto.
That's right, the metal bikini that she has worn since her inception back in the 70's is gone. It was a classic look that had fans split on it's meaning. Was it a ridiculous and sexist outfit that would afford no real protection… or was it a statement of the unobtainable woman who is equal to man in every way. I've heard both arguments. Either way it's a look we've seen for years whether drawn by Frank Thorne, Greg Horne, Ed Benes or anyone else.
If you miss the classic look there are a few options including hitting the back issue bins and graphic novel rack at your local comic shops or head over to Comixology where the publisher is having sale on it's digital backlist, with some collections up to 80% off of their regular price. Over 50 single issues and collections, written and drawn by Gail Simone, Michael Avon Oeming, Joseph Michael Linsner, Frank Tieri, Luke Lieberman, and many more. The sale runs from today through January 15th.
