C'Mon Folks, It's About A Smart Lesbian Writer In The 1930's And '40's – Find Your Strange Wit
Ok, so we did run a piece about the Kickstarter Strange Wit a little while back, but it's got three days left in the campaign and though it's almost certainly going to make its goal, even I am getting antsy alongside writer Katy Rex. I am guilty of owning a number of books that pertain to writer Jane Bowles and her cohort "enemy" husband writer and composer Paul Bowles–in fact it's quite a few books including biographies and letters. These people are FASCINATING. Jane is fascinating.
These are artistic bohemian types in the 1930's and '40's who helped shape literary tradition and they had very wild lives that we're going to get a chance to read in graphic novel format as written by Katy Rex with main biography art by Tyler Jenkins (Peter Panzerfaust) and included art by several others including June Vigants and Kate Lacour with colors by Kelly Fitzpatrick (Sensation Comics). With 10 chapters based on Jane's life and each chapter containing an adaptation of one of her stories (doubly awesome), this is a great enterprise. Note that the campaign is actually set to support the first 28-page chapter of the graphic novel as a single issue to help develop the graphic novel further.
Here's Kay Rex talking about the project:
The project's campaign ends on Mon, September 14th 2015 12:19 AM EDT.
