Dark Horse Comics to Launch a Clothing Line
Rappers. Athletes. Reality TV stars. Dark Horse Comics. What do these things have in common?
According to a press release, Things From Another World is teaming up with Dark Horse Comics to launch an exclusive, limited-edition clothing line. The line will be produced in conjunction with "the newly established Dark Horse China Office," because honestly, it's not like they're going to make the clothes in Portland, unless they are made out of organically-grown hemp. You can tell they're taking this seriously because they refer to the clothing as "pieces" in the press release:
The companies' respective creative teams were curious about each other's styles and sensibilities and looking for an opportunity to learn about, and play in, unfamiliar sandboxes. Featuring both modern and explorative takes on the iconic Dark Horse logo, the nine pieces in the collection explore what it is to be a dark horse.
Dark Horse President Mike Richardson had this to say:
As many know, from the beginning at Dark Horse Comics our focus was on working with creators as equal partners. This line is our first step in exploring similar opportunities to once again partner with artists, this time on the retail side, and we're excited to see where it takes us and our creative partners. The opening of our Dark Horse China Office in Shanghai and its access to designers across Asia, as well as its creative and quality capabilities, enable us to lift the product offering at Things From Another World to a whole new level.
The press release also notes:
While this initial launch focuses on apparel, Things From Another World is looking to collaborate with artists and creators from diverse backgrounds, on products of all types.
Maybe Jason Aaron can finally get that Mjolnir butt plug he's been dreaming about produced? Here's another quote from TFAW Vice President of Retail and General Manager, Andrew McIntire:
This is an exciting time for TFAW. We're reaching back to the brand's roots, and playing in the space where comic fandom intersects modern culture. It makes total sense for us to start this journey with The Dark Horse Experiment, but we have more plans and products in the works with unique visionaries from all over the world. We hope you'll be as excited by them when you see them, as we are.
We're glad to see McIntire is getting right back on his feet after losing to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania last weekend. You can see the full line of Dark Horse apparel at TFAW's website starting tomorrow at 10AM Pacific.
