Dark Horse, Not Marvel, to Publish a Wreck-It Ralph Comic Book
Disney happens to own its own very large, very successful comic book publisher, but when it comes to producing all-ages comics, Disney seems to have very little faith in Marvel. Instead, the company farms those out to publishers like IDW and Dark Horse, even, in the case of this morning's announcement, when making all-ages comics starring Marvel's own characters!
Yeah, that one had to hurt. Why focus all of their parental love and affection and stupid awards on a publisher that isn't even their own, when a perfectly good publisher has been right there under their noses all along? What about us, dad?! What about us?!
Ahem.
In any case, another Disney comic book has been announced aimed at younger readers, and so naturally it's being published by Dark Horse. The publisher announced a 64-page graphic novel called Disney Ralph Breaks the Internet—Click Start: Choose Your Own Internet Adventure, which features both a prequel AND an eight-page sequel to Ralph Breaks the Internet, which is in theaters on November 21st.
Joe Caramagna and Amy Mebberson will write the book, with art by Emilio Urbano, Andrea Greppi, and Amy Mebberson. The graphic novel hits stores on December 12th and retails for $10.99.
Walt Disney Animation Studios' follow-up to 2012's Wreck-It Ralph leaves the arcade behind, venturing into the expansive universe of the internet—which may or may not survive Ralph's not-so-light touch. In this prequel, a choose-your-own-adventure-style graphic novel, Wreck-It Ralph and Vanellope von Schweetz journey through the internet with you in the lead . . . Then, in a bonus 8-page short sequel to the film, Vanellope explores the wonders of OhMyDisney.com.
