DC Comics To Give All Their Creators One Extra Cent

Lawrence Ganem, Vice-President Talent Relations at DC Entertainment has been in touch with DC creators about changes to the way they get paid. It's all going electronic and switching to twice a month instead of weekly.

But you can still use your fax machine if you want. Lawrence says,

Hi Everyone,

As you know from Dan & Jim's announcement last week, DC Entertainment is modernizing its systems for making payments to our talent. This modernization has led to some changes to our current processes of which you need to be aware. The first change is payment frequency. Please note that as of September 1, 2014 our payment frequency will change to twice per month for all art and editorial payments. As of that date, payments for A&E will be made on the 15^th and the final day of every month. In cases where either day falls on a weekend or holiday we'll pull the payment dates earlier to the nearest business day. We currently use this payment frequency for wire payments to our talent who live outside the US and it works well. Beginning in September, this will now be our policy across the board.

We understand that changing our payment frequency in this manner may present a difficulty to some of you but we are hoping to ease any concerns by adding some efficiencies to the payment process to ensure that you get your payments more quickly.

One such efficiency that we are now ready to offer is direct deposit (also known as ACH). Many of you have been asking for the option to receive payments electronically for some time now and we're happy to make this available to you at last! You can sign up for direct deposit now or at any time by using the attached ACH enrollment form. Simply fill out the required information, sign, date and return it to us along with a voided check from your bank account either via fax to XXX-XXX-XXX or via email to XXXXX@DCEntertainment.com. All information sent through these channels will be kept secure and confidential.

Once we receive the completed ACH Enrollment form and the voided check from you we'll work with our Accounts Payable department in Burbank, CA to set up your account and bank information in our payment system. At that point we will confirm the bank information by sending a test-deposit of $0.01 into your account. Once you confirm to us that the test-deposit has arrived in your account we'll make the change official and all payments to you from that point onward will be handled via direct deposit. The entire process from receipt of our form to the verification of the test deposit may take up to 2 weeks to complete. During this time you may experience some delays in your payments. We will do our best to keep any delays to a minimum.

Once you've transitioned to direct deposit all of your payments from DC Entertainment for art and editorial as well as participations will be sent to you in this manner. Each time a payment for work delivered is deposited into your account you will receive an email from XXXXX@DCEntertainment.com informing you of the full amount you should receive and providing you with a detailed breakdown of the payment. Participations payments will be identified in the email by a specific reference number. Additionally, later this summer, all of your participations and additional compensation statements will be sent to you via email as well. Email statements will be sent to you from xxxx@warnerbros.com.

Although we'll be making payments for art and editorial less frequently, we're confident that the increased efficiency of making these payments via direct deposit will be more beneficial in the long run for most of you.
