Everybody Hates Spider-Ham (#1 Spoilers)

Today sees a new Spider-Ham comic book come to Marvel, about a year after it really should have come out, after Into The Spider-Verse. At least it's beating Spider-Man Noir to publication.

Created by editor Larry Hama, Tom DeFalco and Mark Armstrong, he first appeared in the one-shot comic book Marvel Tails Starring Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham in 1983, which was then followed by an ongoing bi-monthly series, Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham, under Marvel's Star Comics imprint, with both titles edited by Hama. Rather than the presumed backstory of a pig bitten by a radioactive spider, he was a spider who was bitten by a radioactive Aunt May pig… which means he is rather out of place in the rest of the anthropomorphic superheroic animals.

And in the new comic by Zeb Wells and Will Robson, the other heroes let their bigotry have full sway…

Spider-Ham #1 is published today from Marvel Comics. I bought mine from Piranha Comics in Kingston-Upon-Thames. Piranha Comics is a small south London comic store chain with a small south-east store in Kingston-Upon Thames's market centre, which runs Magic The Gathering nights on Fridays, and a larger south-west store in Bromley, which also runs Magic nights and has an extensive back issue collection and online store.
