Gossip: Could Michael B Jordan Be Adapting Scott Snyder and Jock's Wytches as a Movie Now?
Five years ago, production company New Regency acquired the then-brand-new comic book series from Image Comics, Wytches by Scott Snyder and Jock, for Brad Grey, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston's Plan B Entertainment Inc. to produce. The film didn't happen. But five years later has someone else picked up the rights? I mention this because Bleeding Cool gets the word that representatives of Michael B Jordan's production company Outlier Society Productions has been going into comic book shops and buying seemingly-random issues of the series. Outlier Society Productions also co-produces the Rooster Teeth animates series Gen:Lock, for whom Jordan voices the character Julian Chase, and they have a first-look deal with Warner Bros.
Wytches follows the Rook family and their daughter Sailor as they move to the town of Litchfield, NH following an incident involving a particularly vicious school bully named Annie. In this incident, Sailor was attacked and Annie went missing, prompting rumors that Sailor killed her. Eventually, the speculation grows to the point where Sailor's father Charlie and mother Lucy decide that the only thing to do is move the family to a neighbouring town in the hopes of starting over again. This proves to be unsuccessful as some of the rumors have followed the family and Sailor still feels ostracized from her new school peers. The family is also largely unaware that the town is home to its own supernatural secrets, including a tradition where a person will pledge another to strange beings, wytches, in the nearby forest in order to gain a boon from them.
We will look to the wires for more… or the runes…
