Valkyrie #7 is in stores from Marvel Comics next week, by Al Ewing, Jason Aaron, and Pere Perez. And as we see in the preview below, the stakes are high in this important comic.

That's because one of the most important characters in the history of Marvel is dying, and that death could have extreme repercussions for all of Marvel's future plans.

Yes, Death itself is dying. And that's a very bad thing.

After all, killing off characters in shocking deaths is pretty much key to Marvel's publishing strategy.

How will readers know that a super-mega-crossover event is important if at least one or two characters aren't shockingly killed off in it?

And how will Marvel boost sales a few months later by shockingly bringing those dead characters back to life in a six-issue mini-series?

Death must be saved so the Marvel Universe can live. Hopefully these heroes are up to the task. Valkyrie #7 hits stores on Wednesday.
